Ooty also known as Udagamandalam is the "Queen of hill stations" is the headquarter of Nilgiris district. It is one of the most popular tourist resorts in India. Nilgiris means "Blue Mountains". It is situated at an altitude of 2,240 meters above sea level. The weather is quite pleasant with a temperature of 15-25 C during the day time, dropping to lows close to 5 C during the night in December. So the participants are adviced to bring warm clothes.

How to Reach Ooty:
Via Coimbatore
The nearest major railway station is Coimbatore, which is nearly 90 kms from Ooty. Coimbatore is well connected to the rest of the country by railways. On reaching Coimbatore, one can take an auto to the Ooty bus stand, which is situated on the Mettupalayam Road (auto should cost around Rs. 70/-) from where buses ply to Ooty. The journey takes around three and a half hours. The frequency of the buses during day time is around 20 minutes.

Via Bangalore
One can reach Ooty by road from Bangalore which is at a distance of 290 km. It takes around 10 hours by bus. Karnataka and Tamilnadu state buses ply from Majestic Bus stand in Bangalore to Ooty.
